Get up close and personal to an array of farm animals during supervised feeding each morning. Kids of all ages enjoy interaction with our animals and daily animal feeding is included in the tariff. In fact, you can send the kids to us for an hour while you have a relaxing start to the day. During the day, the peacocks, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, geese, (black-faced Dorper) sheep and alpaca wander around the property, foraging for food. At night, the animals all go back into their pens, except for the peacocks and guinea fowl which nest high in the trees by the homestead. Guests are welcome to join us at supervised feeding time (9am every day, weather permitting), when your children can collect fresh eggs and actively participate in feeding the animals. An unusual sight at Margaret River Hideaway are the farm's 4 Scottish highland cows. These beautiful and docile animals bring an exotic touch with their fearsome spreading horns, woolly coats and long wavy fringes. And we mustn't forget our glorious feathered friends. The wonderful trees which adorn our block entice a significant variety of birds, of which we've (recently) sighted the Common Bronzewing Pigeon, Port Lincoln (28) Parrot, Western Rosella, Little Corella, Long Billed Cockatoo, Yellow Whistler, New Holland Honeyeater, Western Spinebill, Brown Honeyeater, Red Wattlebird, Silver Eye, Yellow-rumped Thornbill, Grey Fantail, (laughing) Kookaburra, Magpie, Splendid Fairy Wren and Scrub Wren. So, make sure you bring your binoculars and camera so that you can enjoy our magnificent birdlife!
